S.O.R Muscle Body Moisturiser

Pilates recovery routine: the shower after reformer

Reformer class is done. Your legs are shaking from the last footwork set, and work, dinner or the commute is next. The one recovery slot you already have is the shower after.

State of Recovery (S.O.R) was built for that shower. Three steps with magnesium, arnica and menthol, in the time you were already going to spend under the water.

The short answer

Water, food, sleep and the next class. Then use the shower you're already taking.

Gel, scrub and moisturiser after class: 1,350mg of magnesium across the full routine, and no extra time on top of your normal shower.

The basics come first.

No skincare routine replaces water, a proper meal, sleep and sensible programming. If something hurts rather than just feeling worked, see a physio or your doctor. S.O.R sits alongside the basics. It doesn't stand in for them.

The S.O.R System

3 steps after reformer.

Step 01 — Cleanse
S.O.R Muscle Shower Body Gel

Muscle Shower Body Gel

A clear gel that lathers to a white foam. Work it over legs, glutes and shoulders. The cooling hits from the first lather.

Step 02 — Prep
S.O.R Muscle Shower Body Scrub

Muscle Shower Body Scrub

The exfoliating step, with arnica in the formula. After the gel, then rinse. Use it 2-3 times a week, after your hardest classes.

Step 03 — Recover
S.O.R Muscle Body Moisturiser

Muscle Body Moisturiser

After the shower. Towel off and work it into the legs and glutes you just worked. It rubs in and stays on.

$110 bought separately. Ships free in Australia.

When it fits

Every class ends in a shower.

Morning class before work

Studio shower, gel, moisturiser, dressed and out. If you're short on time, keep the scrub for an evening shower.

Evening reformer

The full 3 steps at home. Moisturiser on before you sit down for the night.

The studio shower

All 3 tubes fit in a gym bag. Gel and scrub in the studio shower, moisturiser before you get changed.

Hard class or easy class.

After a mat or stretch class, the gel and the moisturiser are enough. After a heavy reformer or sculpt class, add the scrub on one of your 2-3 scrub days.

Start with one product.

You don't need the whole routine to start. The Muscle Body Moisturiser ($40) goes on after any shower. If you want all 3 steps, The Recovery Stack is $100 for the set. Run as well? Read the shower after the long run.

FAQ

Is the menthol too strong?

It's a cool feel on the skin once it's on. If your skin is sensitive, try a small area first.

Do I need all 3 steps?

No. Start with the Muscle Body Moisturiser if you want one product. The full routine is The Recovery Stack at $100, against $110 bought separately.

Can I use it in a studio shower?

Yes. All 3 tubes fit in a gym bag: the gel and moisturiser are 250ml, the scrub is 200ml.

What order do the steps go in?

Gel first, then the scrub, then rinse. The moisturiser goes on after you towel off.

How often should I use the scrub?

2-3 times a week. The gel and the moisturiser go on after every session.

How much magnesium is in the routine?

1,350mg of magnesium across the full 3-step routine. S.O.R is a cosmetic product and this is not dosing advice.
